Astronautalis: “Secrets On Our Lips”

Minneapolis rapper and singer Astronautalis is not unfamiliar with Eau Claire – the Florida native has worked on projects with locals before and popped through town on more than one occasion. This time, he stuck around to give us a gorgeous live rendition of his ballad “Secrets On Our Lips.”

The Ericksons: “Tail Lights”

The sister duo of The Ericksons have been in and about Eau Claire for some time, recording and playing with local musicians. In one of their trips over we snagged them for a sessions and paired them with a handful of female music students for an all-girls take on their song “Tail Lights.”

The Farewell Circuit: “Admission”

The Farewell Circuit contacted us about doing a session and we immediately jumped on it. The band has been rising quickly through the ranks in Minneapolis with their brand of light-touch, atmospheric indie-rock. Davy arranged the piece with a unique group of musicians, including vibes, percussion and an accordion (harkening back to the folk tradition). Watch out for Farewell Circuit in the future.

Haley Bonar: “Down Sunny Roads”

Haley Bonar has been a staple in the Minneapolis music scene for years. The singer/songwriter’s melodious voice paired perfectly with the strings and horns of Davy Sumner’s arrangement.

Foreign Fields: “The River Kings”

Foreign Fields originally hail from our home state of Wisconsin, but now find themselves in Nashville – the land of country music. That juxtaposition is apparent in their music, with wide, spacious songwriting that takes on a slight twang at some points. For Arco, we chose to do the song “The River Kings” off the band’s 2012 full length Anywhere But Where I Am. The choir took the place of an organ, giving the take an open, almost eerie feel with Eric Hillman’s rounded vocals over top.
